South Edge Drainage Improvements
Las Vegas, NV

The project at South Edge is to be for the storm water and water control for a large master planned community in the southern most section of central Las Vegas. As with many communities in the Las Vegas Valley, the South Edge project is expected to experience rapid growth. Because of this, the system for storm water runoff must be capable and efficient.

R2H has been retained to provide all structural engineering design for hydraulic concerns related to the project. Because of the large size of the community and the proximity to the mountains the expected water runoff quantities are quite significant. In order to accommodate the expected large flows, the project is to contain thirty-six (36) reinforced concrete boxes (RCB’s), several miles of concrete lined drainage channels, including nine (9) confluence structures, three (3) outlet and seven (7) inlet structures, and a headwork’s structure. The RCB’s will have several unique designs, as twenty-six (26) of the RCB’s will be under roadways and designed as bridge structures with vehicle loading in addition to hydraulic and soils loads.
