St. Rose Parkway Improvements
Las Vegas, NV
The St. Rose Parkway (SR-146) project was originally a single construction project to replace the existing interchange with I-15 on the west end and then to widen and improve the roadway from there to an existing interchange with I-215 on the east end. It has since been divided into two phases. Phase I constructed the widening from Las Vegas Boulevard on the west to Serene Avenue on the east. Construction on this phase was completed in 2004. Phase II will replace the interchange at I-15 and connect to Phase I at Las Vegas Boulevard.
During Phase I, R2H provided structural engineering services for 2,000 meters of cast-in-place noise walls as well as retaining wall design and drainage structure design. R2H also designed a cast-in-place concrete “hourglass” SPUI bridge for the new interchange at SR-146 and I-15. This work was halted by NDOT at the 60% submittal when the project was split into two phases. R2H coordinated the work with the roadway designers and other engineering disciplines associated with the project. During construction, R2H responded to contractor RFI and checked shop drawings items we designed.
In Phase II, R2H provided similar services to phase I except that the amount of retaining walls in phase II was more extensive. Phase II included noise walls similar to phase I and numerous drainage and auxiliary structures. Phase II also includes three special sign bridges that R2H designed. These bridges exceed the standard lengths by a considerable amount, with the longest one spanning more than 57 meters.
