McCarran Airport - Terminal 3 Bridge
Las Vegas, NV
The project includes an addition of a new terminal with separate access roadways at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport. The new terminal provides 14 additional gates, including 3 more international gates and a new multi-level parking structure. Since the new terminal will function independently of the main terminals, the project includes new ticketing/baggage handling facilities, taxiways, security accommodations, and food/vendor service areas. It is the final piece of infrastructure at McCarran and the full buildout will accommodate 55 million passengers each year. The expansion is scheduled to open in 2010. Within the proposed terminal access system, there are 16 new bridges required and many cantilever and MSE retaining walls, which provide access to the different levels of the terminal building and new parking structure.
R2H will assist G.C.Wallace with the connecting roadways for the new terminal by designing two of the 16 bridges required. These 16 bridges area all cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structures. R2H is responsible for Bridge 10 and Bridge 11, located on the west side of the project, immediately east of the current intersection of Russell Road and Paradise Road. Bridge 10 is a 35-ft wide by 120-ft long single span on a curved alignment. Bridge 11 is a 3-span structure on a straight alignment with a total length of 19 ft and a variable width from 35 ft to 65 ft.
