Horse over US-95
Las Vegas, NV
Horse Rd. is scheduled to cross U.S. 95 the project will include the design of an urban interchange on the bridge structure, a second bridge structure at the frontage road, miscellaneous retaining walls and sound walls and associated box culverts at drainage areas.
As the structural sub-consultant on the project our responsibility will include the design and preparation of construction documents for the project. In addition we will be responsible for the construction administration services for the structural components of the project.
Specifically the project is the design of the SPUI structure over Horse Rd. This structure will be a two span post tensioned concrete box girder on high cantilever abutments and a center pier with typical NDOT octagonal columns. The bridge must be designed for extreme traffic loading as dynamic loads will be in multiple directions. In addition the structure is to house utilities, sign support foundations and other treatments.
The second bridge structure is a simple span grade separation. The Horse Drive/Frontage Road grade separation is a single-span, post-tensioned box girder on high cantilever abutments. Bridge aesthetics and treatments will be similar to the Horse Rd. Bridge over U.S. 95. Including sign support foundations on the bridge and utility sleeves.
Also included on this contract are four (4) retaining walls at the SPUI bridge structure and four (4) retaining walls at the Horse Dr. / Frontage Rd. grade separation. The retaining walls are to be cast-in-place concrete or MSE walls with surface treatments similar to the Horse Rd. Bridge. As the project has massive hydraulic needs R2H will also be providing structural design on several water structures including one (1) retaining wall next to an existing subdivision, one (1) channel termination, four (4) confluence/transition structures and three (3) reinforced box culverts (RCB).
