Zions Bank Tower - Reskin and Seismic Retrofit
Salt Lake City, UT

Zions Bank Tower

This structure is an eighteen story office building constructed in 1955.  It originally housed the offices of Kennecott Copper Corporation.   The structure was originally designed as a complete steel moment frame to resist wind and seismic forces.  A seismic retrofit program was developed and designed whereby floor by floor the steel structure was entirely strengthened to satisfy more modern building codes, while the building remained fully occupied.  The project was completed with a completely new exterior skin, which was attached to and became integral with the new retrofitted structure.
