Salt Lake Hardware - Adaptive Reuse

The project is a seismic retrofit of a famous warehouse in downtown Salt Lake City.  Constructed in the early 1900’s it housed the famous Salt Lake Hardware. The building was converted into a class A office space.  The building received a complete seismic retrofit, remodeling and refurbishing. Included in the retrofit was the use for the first time of a method for strengthening unreinforced masonry walls. Fiberglass “E” mesh was applied over some of the walls and epoxied into place to create a strengthened masonry shear wall.
