City of Las Vegas, Paintbrush Gateways
Las Vegas, NV

As part of the Arts District renovation, the gateway was designed to highlight the entrance to the famed Las Vegas arts district. The Paintbrush Gateway will be located at the northeast corner of Charleston Blvd and 4th Street, one block west of the Strip. The paintbrushes were designed as steel frames shaped as a large paintbrush housing large LED lighting to mark the way to the art district.
As the engineer in charge R2H worked with famed artist Dennis Oppenheim in developing this gateway. R2H is performing all civil and structural engineering services including the design and preparation of contract drawings, special provisions, cost estimates and reports required to clear the final sites for two gateway vertical metal sculptures (resembling paint brushes). This project involved excavating for required foundation, relocating existing utilities, constructing the foundations, providing electrical service pedestals at each site, erecting and securing the two metal sculptures to the foundation, along with other miscellaneous work required to install the sculptures.
